Honoring our Local First-Responders

August 27th, 2018 | Park City Community

“Bravery is not the absence of fear, but action in the face of fear.”
Park City’s First Responders

There are angels living among us. We call them First Responders. Every day, first responders put their life on the line to ensure the safety of the all of us. Chin-MacQuoid-Fleming-Harris would like to join the Park City Elks Lodge and St-Regis Deer Valley in honoring our local first-responders. We could not be more proud of them or more grateful that they are members of our community.

Award Recipients

Jim Foust, Park City Police Officer of the Year

McKay Wadley, the Park City Fire District firefighter of the year

Kade Loveland, the Utah Highway Patrol trooper of the year

Andrew Wright, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputy of the year

Andrea McNeil, the Summit County emergency medical technician of the year

“Humility makes men as angels.” – St. Augustine
If you speak with any of the honored first responders listed above, you’ll first be struck not by their courage, expertise, or level heads, but by their humility. For them, saving lives is simply what they do. They spend each and every day serving and protecting the rest of us. These five are award recipients for their outstanding service, but there are dozens more of them within our emergency services departments. We often don’t even think about them until we alarmingly find ourselves in the middle of the worst situations of our lives. The average person does not possess their rare combination of deep empathy and remarkable toughness. They have the strength of character to be so caring they would rescue a complete stranger, but strong enough to accept all the ones they can’t. They witness horrible tragedy, yet bounce back time and again with the hope they will save one more.

Running toward danger to help
First Responders see the value of every human life so acutely that the risk their own lives for others. They don’t look the other way when someone is struggling. They do not say they would rather not get involved, or it’s none of their business. When the most dark and dangerous moments in your life sends others running, first responders will sprint toward you. They make you feel safe and secure. They quiet your fears and harness your emotions. They answer your call for help immediately, and you don’t have to ask them twice or plead for their help. You don’t have to explain yourself or justify your circumstances. First responders take you just as you are, and command the situation until you’re safe.

Chin-MacQuoid-Fleming-Harris applaud Jim Foust, McKay Wadley, Kade Loveland, Andrew Wright, and Andrea McNeil, for their service far above and beyond their duty. We also applaud all of Park City’s first responders – we hope we have the opportunity to thank you for all you do long before we ever meet you on the job.
