A True Community Effort
Three organizations are responsible for Park City’s magnificent trail system; Mountain Trails Foundation, Basin Recreation and Park City Recreation. Thanks to their hard work, Park City has become a mountain biking mecca for world and continues to grow the sport in new and exciting ways. In 1992, Mountain Trails Foundation spearheaded the effort to expand our trails until they reached every corner of the area. Then as now, they are funded entirely through donations made by trail users. They started with only a few miles that were mostly on private land. Today, they work closely with Basin Recreation and Park City Recreation to maintain the trails year-round.

Get Outfitted by Experts
Not sure if you want to pick up mountain biking, or just visiting for a weekend get away? Try renting from the myriad of bike shops located around town. Jans Sports, Cole Sport, White Pine Touring, and Storm Cycles are the premier bicycle retailers in Park City. They will help outfit anyone from the beginner to the professional. Offering bikes of all makes and models, you can choose from comfortable cruisers to funtastic fat tires. “The most amazing thing about Park City’s bike shops is that every employee in every bike shop is excited to just talk about biking,” said Steve Chin. “Hidden trails, new gear, tips and tricks – they are just pumped to help people out!” Brands such as Pivot and Scott use Park City as their research and design lab, putting their new products to the test on Park City’s trail system to ensure that they can handle every grade, turn, and jump.

Weekly Rides and Clinics
Now that you’re outfitted with the best possible gear, where do you go? Basin Recreation hosts mountain biking clinics to help new riders learn the tips and tricks of the mountain trails. In addition to bike clinics, there are weekly rides for bikers to join and learn about our trails from a pro. For the kids, the Young Riders program is a long-standing summer tradition for kids to learn about the lifelong health benefits and joy that mountain biking offers.

Play Harder Than You Work
Parkites are known for being hard workers who play even harder. When you get down to it, that’s what the Park City lifestyle is all about. The outdoor recreation here is never-ending, and we at CMFH love that it keeps us engaged in our community and what it offers. If you haven’t added mountain biking to your list of favorite things about Park City, we hope 2017 will be the summer you give it a try. If you already head to the hills on your bike every chance you get, we’ll see you out on the trails!
