One of the things we love most about Park City is that it supports small, family-owned businesses. Even though some of the big chain restaurants have moved in, the Mom & Pop eatery gets our hearts and wallets every time if the food is great and the atmosphere is friendly. Case in point: Five Seeds (Five5eeds), a new breakfast and lunch café in the Snow Creek shopping center.
Ideas from Down Under
Andrew and Tiffany Percy, made the big move from Melbourne, Australia to Park City two years ago. They had been visiting Park City for several years with their five children and dreamed of bringing a bit of Melbourne’s hip dining scene with them. They collaborated with locals Christopher Conville and Gabriel Chaparro to create Five5eeds, named in honor of their children.
Great food, Serious Coffee
The motto of Five Seeds is, “Great food, Serious Coffee.” When Americans think about serious coffee, Australia doesn’t necessarily come to mind, but the Percy family is out to change that. Their coffee and the way they serve it is 100% Australian. They fly freshly roasted beans from Australia and serve it in the traditional Melbourne style, such as a latte served in a six-ounce Duralex glass that they also import from Australia. Whether it’s served hot or cold, the aroma of their rich coffee fills every corner of the café.
Australian Flair and Fare
All the meals served at Five Seeds are made from scratch from only the freshest raw ingredients and served at its best to the table. Breakfast is treated as it should be: the most important meal of the day, and is available all day. The menu selections range from the mega-healthy Superfood Grain Salad made with wild rice, quinoa, fresh cilantro, charred corn, chai soaked goji berries and arugula to the super satisfying Pulled Pork Benedict made with slow-cooked pulled porky, poached eggs, toast, rich apple cider hollandaise, and tart Granny Smith apple slices. Lunch is served after 11:00, and includes what we believe just may be the best burger served in all of Park City.
Bringing Melbourne Chic to Park City
Five Seeds’ upscale interior was designed by a leading Australian interior design firm, and feels trendy but not cold. A family of potters who have been in business for 60 years makes their dishware in Australia, and their branding is from a leading Australian design company. The food, the coffee, and atmosphere may have been brought from Australia, but Five Seeds is quickly becoming 100% Park Citian.
