Good News? Look Local!

October 1st, 2018 | Park City Community

Let’s take a break from the national news, shall we? We at Chin-MacQuoid-Fleming-Harris feel like we’re barely keeping our heads from exploding after a week of crazy Supreme Court confirmation hearings, hurricanes and tsunamis wreaking havoc, and Bill Cosby going to prison. All we have to do is look around us to be reminded that life is precious, and life in Park City is just plain awesome. It’s a little less sensational, maybe, but it’s what we all need right now!

Take a drive
Right now the fall colors on Empire Pass are in their full glory. Taking a drive up Empire Canyon and over to Big Cottonwood Canyon will restore your soul in an amazing way. We recommend you stop at the parking area at the very top, take a deep breath of crisp autumn air, and stroll down one of the trails. Stress will melt away, and you might even find yourself humming. If you have the time finish up with a meal at the Silver Fork near Brighton, all the better. Their deck is spectacular.

Celebrate local making it big
When we watch the Olympics, we consider every Parkite in the competition as a source of great pride. We don’t think that should be any different when it comes to Dancing with the Stars. Park City’s Danelle Umstead, a medal-winning visually impaired Paralympic alpine skier who has multiple sclerosis. She and her dance coach, Artem Chigvintsev, are competing on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

Get THRILLED at the Egyptian
Can we ever get enough of this show? NO! Once again Dance Odyssey Theater returns to the Egyptianstage for what has become a Halloween tradition. Plus, the seat prices are reduced this year! Grab the kids and rock out to our all-time favorite Michael Jackson hit.

Get your bootie ready for skiing
During this time of year, we’re all waiting for the first signs of winter and the return of skiing. Both Basin Recreationand the MARChave special programs designed to wake up your thighs and toughen up your glutes. Getting in shape now will only make the resorts’ opening day all the sweeter!

We can see the light at the end of the road construction
The reconstruction project on the frontage road in front of Ecker Hill Middle School is almost done. Now, that’s good news! Most of us had never been in the neighborhood the detour that took us around the construction took us in. It was almost like magic that we could find our way into the Factory Outlet Stores!

As we move further into our Fall shoulder season in Park City, we at Chin-MacQuoid-Fleming-Harris hope all of you have some time to rest and recharge before the holidays are upon us. Please let us know what good news has happened in your life – we could all use it!
