Woodward Park City kicks off 2023 with competition series, watch parties and more

We already know Woodward Park City (WWPC) is a world-class, year-round action sports destination, but the 125-acre campus is kicking things up a notch in 2023 with a jam-packed lineup of events, competition series and more designed to keep your stoke level high during the height of this epic winter. 

From facetime with snowboarding icon and two-time Olympic gold medalist Jamie Anderson to USASA’s Big Mountain West Series to community watch parties, Woodward Park City is laying out the welcome mat and offering a blanket invitation to join in in the fun over the next few months. We’re here for it all, so we’ve rounded up what you need to know to best take advantage of the opportunities ahead! 

USASA’s Big Mountain West Series

Tuesday, Jan. 24: Rail Jam

Wednesday-Thursday, Jan. 25-26: Slopestyle

USASA events are the first step in the freeskiing and snowboarding competitive pipeline. These grassroots events are designed for amateur skiers and snowboarders looking to further their competitive career. Spectators are welcome and the event is free to watch.

Rail Jam schedule of events

Check-in for participants opens at 9 a.m., with practice starting at 10:25 a.m. The contest runs from 10:50 a.m.-2 p.m., followed by awards at 2:45 p.m.

Slopestyle schedule of events

Check-in for participants opens at 8:15 a.m. with practice starting at 9:15 a.m. The contests run from 10 a.m.-2:45 p.m. both days, followed by awards at 3:30 p.m.

X Games Watch Party

Friday-Sunday, Jan. 27-29

While the action may be going on live in Aspen, Colorado, WWPC is out to make sure no one misses a minute of heart-racing competition from this year’s X Games. Enjoy the broadcast on the new large screen in the Indoor Hub, a cutting-edge sports facility designed for progression and accessible for levels ranging from beginning to expert. Experience trampolines, foam pits, airbags, parkour zones, ramps, spring floors, a pump track, and 10,000 square feet of concrete park. Coaches are stationed throughout the facility to provide supervision and help progress. Learn more online.

‘Camp Woodward’ Watch Party

Thursday, Feb. 9; 5-6 p.m.

Season 12 of the popular reality/documentary series “Camp Woodward” follows four skateboarders on a cross-country road trip like no other. With Woodward’s skate program designer Ryan Sheckler and the Sandlot Times crew along for the ride, the show visits Woodward West, Woodward Tahoe, Woodward Park City, Woodward Copper and Woodward PA. Grab your friends and family and head to WWPC on Thursday, Feb. 9, for the worldwide premiere of this season’s episode from Park City, filmed this past summer.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Futures Tour, Jan. 30-Feb. 3:  The Futures Tour is the intersection between USASA and USSA events and WWPC will host halfpipe and slopestyle events over four days of competition. Futures Tour competitors will earn FIS points toward their rankings in the competitive pipeline. 

Cosmic Tubing, Feb. 10: Celebrate Friday with a tubing party under the lights. Visit the website for pricing and more details.
