Know Your School Districts and Boundaries

One important thing to note about schools in Park City has to do with the school districts. In Park City, homeowners must send their children to the appropriate school based on the school boundaries they live in. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Preschools in Park City 

Park City has an abundance of pre-school options. With half-day options for three-year-olds and full-day options for four-year-olds, preschool is recommended to help prepare your child academically. 

According to the Park City School District, pre-school will engage and challenge your child to not only prepare for their academic career but to also instill cooperation, friendship, and confidence. The PCSD also says that investment in preschool education provides a significant return, as starting school early on means greater success for children in the long run.

Public Elementary Schools in Park City 

Park City’s elementary schools offer exceptional options for children. In 2024, Park City School District was voted the #3 district in Utah with reasonable class sizes and great scores in early literacy, kindergarten readiness, and high attendance according to data compiled by PCSD

The four elementary schools in the Park City School District include: 

  • Jeremy Ranch Elementary (Pre-K-8) – This highly-rated school is located on Rasmussen Road, serving students located in Jeremy Ranch, Hidden Cove, Summit Park, Timberline, Southridge, Upper Pinebrook, Elk Meadows, and more. With a quality dual-immersion French program, JRES is a great choice for students looking to broaden their horizons. 
  • Parley’s Park Elementary (Pre-K-5) Located in Snyderville, PPES is another highly-rated Park City School. This school serves communities including Ironhorse, Aspen Springs, Thaynes Canyon, The Colony, Northshore, Southshore, Sun Peak, Silver Springs, and more! 
  • McPolin Elementary School (Pre-K-5) – With a required dual immersion Spanish program, students at MPES excel linguistically. Located off Kearns Boulevard, MPES serves Deer Valley as well as the neighborhoods of The Aerie, Park Meadows, Prospector, Old Town, Ridge View, and more. 
  • Trailside Elementary School (Pre-K-5) With a slightly smaller student population, Trailside Elementary is a highly-rated school located on Trailside Drive. TSES serves the communities of Kimball Junction, Canyon Creek, Spring Creek, Silver Summit, Park Ridge Estates, and more.

Public High Schools and Junior High Schools in Park City 

PCSD has two middle schools and one high school. They are: 

  • Ecker Hill Middle School – Located on Kilby Rd in Snyderville, Ecker Hill serves over 700 grade 6 and grade 7 students. Featuring dual language immersion, music and art programs, science programs, a gifted program, and more, Ecker Hill is a highly-rated establishment in Park City. 
  • Treasure Mountain Junior High – With almost 800 students and serving grades 8 and 9, Treasure Mountain Junior High is a highly-rated school in Park City. The student-centered curriculum is designed to make children “feel safe, supported, engaged, challenged, and healthy.”
  • Park City High School – Founded in 1928, Park City High School was the #4 ranked high school in Utah for 2024 according to the PCSD. With high graduation rates and college preparedness, Park City High School is an excellent public school option for your older students. With exceptional athletic offerings (Go, Miners!), ample extracurricular options, and a focus on academics, Park City High students are well-rounded and supported.

Private Schools and Montessori Schools in Park City 

Private and alternative schools are also quite popular in Park City, and there are numerous fine institutions to choose from. Some of the best Park City private schools include:

  • Park City Day School – Serving kids from preschool to grade 8, Park City Day School is located on Pinebrook Road on a spectacular 11-acre campus. The school’s mission is to prepare students to live great lives and to build a community “where every family is known and every student is nurtured and challenged.”
  • Telos Classical Academy – This classical Christian school teaches students from grades K-6 in its Lower School program and grades 7-12 in the Upper School program. Located on Silver Creek Road, the school strives to help “develop lifelong habits of moral and intellectual virtue.”

Surrounding Park City School Boards

There are three other school boards in the area surrounding Park City, all of which are gaining strength and feature exceptional educational institutions. They are: 

  • North Summit School District – Located in Coalville, North Summit is a relatively small school district comparatively with one elementary school, a middle school, and a high school. 
  • South Summit School District – Situated in the Kamas area, South Summit features South Summit High School, Middle School, and Elementary School in addition to Silver Summit Elementary and Silver Summit Academy.
  • Wasatch County School District – Similar in size to the Park City School District, Wasatch County serves Midway, Heber City, and the surrounding area. In this distric, you will find Old Mill Elementary, Midway Elementary, JR Smith Elementary, Heber Valley Elementary, Daniels Canyon Elementary School, Timpanogos Intermediate School, Rocky Mountain Middle School, Wasatch County High School, and Wasatch Alternative High School. 

Can Students in Park City Attend Schools in Salt Lake City? 

At less than an hour away by car, some students in Park City may choose to attend schools in Salt Lake City. There are numerous exceptional private schools in SLC and in many cases, there are bus shuttles available. 

About 300-400 students in Park City currently attend private schools in Salt Lake City. Some of the most prominent private schools in Park City include: 

  • Rowland Hall – With under 1,000 students, Rowland Hall has two campuses in SLC serving PK-12 students. The school believes that “students who are deeply engaged in learning today become thoughtful citizens ready for a dynamic tomorrow.”
  • Judge Memorial Catholic High School – This faith-based high school emphasizes intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual development with an impressive range of academic programs and extracurriculars. 
  • Waterford School – As Utah’s premier liberal arts school, The Waterford School teaches students from preschool through to high school with a mandate to stimulate intellect and ignite passion. 

As a major hub, Salt Lake City is home to some world-class educational institutions including private, public, alternative, faith-based, and Montessori options.
