O Tannenbaum! Finding ‘The One’ in the Uintas

December 2nd, 2021 | Park City Community

If you’ve always wondered if cutting down your own Christmas tree is as magical in real life as it looks in the movies – the answer is YES! And we’re excited to take you along on an enchanting adventure into the lush Uinta National Forest to find this year’s perfect tree with Chin | MacQuoid | Fleming | Harris team member Jacquelyn Harris Grayson and her family and friends. Even Santa’s littlest helpers get in on the snowy search for “the one,” but take a tip from the Graysons and brush up on your knowledge of fir trees before you go! The USDA Forest Service (fs.usda.gov) makes it easy to join in this treasured holiday tradition and also do some good in the process: By cutting your own tree, you take an active part in managing your national forests. Simply purchase a $20 permit from any of their local offices, and note there are some rules to adhere to during your journey. Be sure to bring along a handsaw, tarp for the car, pruning shears, rope and measuring tape, and dress appropriately for the weather and ground conditions with proper footwear and gloves. Finally, check the weather and the gas tank, let someone know where you’re going and bring a charged cell phone, water and snacks along for the adventure. O Tannenbaum!
