In a perfect mashup of favorite sayings, the theme for this year’s Park City Sunrise Rotary Fifth Annual Shot Ski event is “When life gives you lemons, take your best shot.”
Sunrise Rotary has postponed its communal shot ski event until Spring 2021, when the ongoing battle between Park City and Breckenridge for world-record shot ski supremacy will hopefully return. However, the club has created a 2020 “home edition” of this favorite Fall fundraiser, set for this Saturday, Oct. 24., that will allow the community to still raise a glass from their own homes and support the organization’s extensive grant programs.
“While we won’t be taking our shots on Main Street this fall, we are so excited to give participants the opportunity to bring a piece of our annual celebration into their homes,” said Park City Sunrise Rotary Club member Connie Nelson.
“We are incredibly grateful for the community’s ongoing support of the shot ski event and our grant programs, and we look forward to returning to Main Street this spring to properly toast our shared success.”
Park City currently holds the world-record title after having 1,310 participants last year, but Breckenridge hasn’t had its “shot” yet, as its shot ski event has been postponed until next January.
High West Distillery is back as this year’s presenting sponsor and is offering a choice of two at-home shot ski packages, proceeds from which will benefit the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club’s Grant Program, which supports more than 20 community groups.

Participants are encouraged to take a photo or video using their at-home shot ski kits this Saturday, Oct. 24. Participants should then post their photo or video on Instagram and Facebook (one entry each), and tag @PCSunriseRotary and @Drinkhighwest, using the hashtag #PChomeshotski in the caption.
The winning post will receive an exclusive High West prize basket that includes:
- Dinner for two at The Nelson Cottage by High West ($100 value)
- 2020 limited edition wrapped shot ski
- High West burlap bag
- High West flask
- High West hat
- Two sipping glasses
Virtual packages are available for purchase at Park City Sunrise Rotary Club and can be picked up at the High West Nelson Cottage porch in Park City or at The Refectory amphitheater at High West Distillery in Wanship. Additionally, packages can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Hugo Coffee at the Park City Visitor Information Center. Packages can also be delivered for an additional cost.
