Feed more than your hunger at Waldorf’s ‘Frostoria’

February 27th, 2020 | Resorts

Imagine feasting with family and friends in your own private “crystal” igloo surrounded by snowy Park City mountains and lit by the glow of dreamy twinkle lights and the starry night sky. Well, now you can create your own snow-globe experience this winter with dinner under the stars at Waldorf Astoria Park City’s Frostoria.

Frostoria is a sensational new dining concept that marries the culinary creations of executive chef Hermann Schaefer’ with a fairytale winter setting. Up to six guests can cozy up in the heated faux igloo – four of them are situated on the Waldorf’s picturesque pool deck – which is beautifully appointed with deep leather chairs, plush pillows, fuzzy throw blankets and an elegant chandelier. These outdoor living rooms are also customized with board games, Jenga, puzzles and books, and guests are encouraged to step outside and stargaze!

Enjoy any beverage selection off the Waldorf’s Powder restaurant menu, but several handcrafted cocktails are available to accompany the select, family-style menu including the Little Piggie Manhattan, which features 10-year-old WhistlePig rye whiskey, Antica sweet vermouth and house bitters. Or choose the more apres-ski-like option of “Butter and Spice” that blends Captain Morgan spiced rum with house-made spiced butter, maple syrup and hot water.

Start your evening with a charcuterie and cheese board that features selections from several Park City -area farms and creameries including Park City Creamery, Heber Valley cheese and Wasatch Creamery. For dinner, choose two items off the prix fix menu ($105 per person), which includes squash-carrot-ginger soup, roasted beet and burrata salad, wild mushroom and black truffle risotto, Viennese goulash and braised short ribs.

Be sure to save room at the end for dessert – your choice of tiramisu or cheesecake, as well as a sweet “surprise:” a glass of warm mulled wine crafted from a recipe from an employee’s family (hint: It’s the vanilla paste that really elevates this drink beyond!).

You can experience Frostoria at the Waldorf Astoria Park City daily between 4-8 p.m., through April 12. Reservations 24 hours in advance are required; kids’ menus available upon request. Call 435.647.5566 for reservations.
