Summer is fleeting, and with every cannonball into the pool or fresh drink enjoyed on a patio, there is a part of us that can’t help but remember that back to school is on its way.
The Park City School District welcomes students back in mid-August, but what if we told you that you should start preparing for the big day now?
We’re not trying to put a damper on the summer, but it’s a fact of life. Kids will be going back to school soon, so it’s best to be prepared!
Here’s how our team recommends getting ready for back to school in Park City.
How to Prepare As Parents
Back to school is not just something kids go through. It’s something that parents worry about too! There’s much to be done, so many shopping lists, things to organize, and more. All of this while having to be the motivator and champion for your children to feel excited about the upcoming school year.
It can be a lot. However, if you take some time to get organized and strategize your preparation, you can get everything done with minimal stress.

Start Establishing a Schedule
We might still be in the dog days of summer, but getting your kids acclimated to a routine is the best way to prepare them for a successful transition in August. Sure, your kids might love getting up early to head to Sailing Camp or Hip Hop Camp, but getting up early for regular school is an entirely different beast.
Try to keep the kids on a schedule where they get up at the same time every day, despite what’s going on. An early alarm now can help lessen the adjustment period later on.

Shop ‘Til You Drop
Kids grow like weeds, it’s an undisputed fact. Although shopping for clothes for them is a year-long endeavor thanks to growth spurts, there are few things more satisfying than a fresh outfit for the first day of school.
While life would be much easier if your kids had school uniforms, back to school shopping helps them feel confident and excited about the year ahead. Other supplies like backpacks, new notebooks, pens, and pencils, might not feel like exciting purchases, but they’ll still serve to get your kids excited about seeing their friends and heading back to school.

Know the Route
If you’re new to town or your kids are starting up at a new school for the first time, it would be beneficial to try a couple of test routes. Knowing the best way to get to school will ensure a seamless first day and minimize the stress on whether your kids are biking, walking, or taking the bus.
And if you’re using e-bikes to get to school, make sure they are charged and ready to go! (We may or may not be speaking from experience.)
