Park City has something for everyone at any time of the year. It’s one of the reasons why we’re the best home base for recreating in Utah. When you picture summer in Park City, you’re probably thinking about long hikes, gallery strolls, and festivals. But if you’re more of the thrill-seeking type, there are plenty of things to do that will get your heart racing.
In this post, we’re talking about our favorite high-adrenaline things to do Park City. Let’s get extreme!
Mountain Coaster and Alpine Slide
An “extreme” activity that’s fun for the whole family? Sign us up! When the snow is long gone from the slopes, you can get down the mountain via the Park City Mountain Coaster or the Park City Alpine Slide. Both options are great choices if you love the thrill of gliding through the woods. The Alpine slide features 4 tracks over 3,000 feet long each, making it one of the longest Alpine Slides in the world! Accessible at the Mid-Station Payday Lift, the Alpine Slide is fun for adults and children (riders 35″-47″ must ride as a passenger with a taller driver or someone over the age of 16).
The Mountain Coaster is the longest “guest-controlled” coaster in Utah, winding you through over a mile of track, at speeds up to 25mph. Just like the Alpine Slide, there are some height requirements for drivers and passengers, but passengers above 54″ can also purchase a “Double Play” package that includes one trip on the Mountain Coaster and one trip on the Alpine Slide!

Ziprider and Flying Eagle
Would you prefer to glide through the mountains in the air versus on the ground? The Park City Ziprider lets you soar 110 feet above the Park City Adventure Park. The Park City Flying Eagle offers a similar experience with equipment better-suited for smaller riders.
Both zip lines have height and weight limits and require time slots to be booked in advance.
Utah Olympic Park
Summer at the Utah Olympic Park is truly something to experience, especially if you’re into extreme activities. The summer season typically runs from mid-May to September, with activities ranging from Extreme Ziplining, Freestyle Ziplining, Extreme Tubing, and more.
A very popular activity at the Olympic Park is the Summer Bobsled Experience. Professional pilots take riders down the 2002 Olympic Sliding Track on modified bobsleds. Not for the faint of heart, the Bobsled Experience can reach speeds up to 70mph!
Mini-thrill seekers can also enjoy the Action Tower featuring airbag jumps, slides, and tubing.

Windsurfing
Uinta Kiting offers both winter and summer kiteboarding lessons on the Deer Creek Reservoir. If you want to try something a little different, they also offer wingfoiling, which is similar to windsurfing. Along with an inflatable wing, a Hydrofoil board lets you hover above the water. It’s an exhilarating way to get around, once you get the hang of it, that is. Uinta Kiting offers two-day lessons for wingfoiling, allowing you to master the basics before trying the actual foil board.
Skydiving
Skydiving is often the first thing you think about when ‘extreme sports’ are mentioned. And in Park City, our wide open terrain and breathtaking scenery offer some of the best skydiving around. Skydive the Wasatch is located about an hour and a half from Park City. Offering both tandem jumps for beginners and skydiving lessons for adventure seekers, it’s one of those activities that can become a little addictive after you’ve tried it once! Skydive Utah is another option located about 30 minutes from Salt Lake City. With options for first-time jumpers, tandem jumps, a skydive school, and a large community for experienced and avid jumpers, it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

Whether you’re looking for lessons, tours, or tandem rides, there are numerous options for paragliding all within a couple of hours of Park City. Utah Paragliding, Point of the Mountain Paragliding, and Cloud9 Paragliding are just a few of the organizations taking you to new heights on a paraglider.

Hot Air Balloon Rides
When you see the big balloons serenely floating through the air, you might think that riding in a hot air balloon is all tranquillity and relaxation. But the truth is that hot air balloon rides are a true adventure for all ages! Soaring high above the ground, hot air balloon rides in Park City are memorable experiences that allow you to enjoy panoramic views of the stunning landscape below. Bigfoot Balloons in Park City offers a variety of packages, but we love the Sunrise Flights for obvious reasons! Rainbow Ryders is another great option offering hot air balloon rides out of Heber City and Skywalker Balloon Company has been taking people into the skies in Park City since 1996.

Downhill Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is one of those great sports where you can be in charge of how extreme things get. Whether you’re in the mood for an easy spin on some fire roads or a challenging cross-country ride, there’s something for every type of rider. But in this post, we’re going for the most extreme riding of all! Gravity riders love Deer Valley Resort Bike Park. These lift-access trails feature swooping berms, huge tabletop jumps, and a great blend of technical and flow trails.
Local mountain bikers also love Woodward for the amazing trail network that is perfectly designed for progression. Parts of the trails are designed reminiscent of a skate park, with multiple lines and transfers, giving endless opportunities for fun. More than that, Woodward has pump tracks and dirt jumps and an indoor facility that lets you ride even on rainy days.

Rafting
Rafting is a group activity that everyone should try at least once! It’s a high-adrenaline way to experience the beautiful waterways here in Park City. Park City Rafting offers guided rafting adventures on the Weber River. Traversing about 5 miles of the river, the experience is educational, interactive, and fun! The American Whitewater Association classifies the Weber River as a Class 2+, or a mild whitewater river with some rapids and technical knowledge required. However, Park City Rafting makes things easy with expert guides, making this a great experience for beginners and families.
Tubing and Water Skiing
Jordanelle Rentals and Marina offers a variety of watersport rentals in the summer, including jet skis and boats on the Jordanelle Reservoir. Here you’ll find motorboat enthusiasts, wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing, and more. Water skiing, paddling, and fishing are also popular at Deer Creek Reservoir, less than an hour away from Park City.
