Are your kids counting down the days until summer vacation? Do you have grandkids visiting this summer and are looking for fun things to do with them? We have you covered! Park City is one of the best places to be in Utah, if recreation is your top priority, and that sentiment extends to the kiddos, too.
Summer is short. Before you know it, it will be Back-to-School. So let’s make the most of it! Here are a few of our favourite things to do with kids in Park City this summer.
Get Active Outside
Being outside is one of the best ways to spend the summer; Park City makes it easy with a wide variety of outdoor recreation for all ages. We love long family bike rides and hikes in the summer.
If you want to stay closer to town, Park City has incredible green spaces and parks. Whether you’re looking for a shady spot for a picnic or a quiet moment, or you’re more interested in skate parks or splash pads, Park City parks deliver the goods. There are also numerous public pools in Park City, perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day.

Try a Summer Camp
It wouldn’t be a list of summer activities without talking about the various recreation day camps. Woodward Park City offers specialized camps for BMX, Scooters, Parkour, Skateboarding, Mountain Biking, and more.
We also highly recommend Deer Valley’s Summer Adventure Camp for kids of all ages, from the Sunflowers (ages 2-11 months) to the Mountaineers (ages 7-12). These programs are designed to be nurturing, fun, and educational, it’s a great way to spend the summer!
Park City Mountain Resort’s Little Adventures Children’s Center offers day camps for kids aged 6-12. This diverse camp has kids going on nature hikes, ziplining, doing arts and crafts, playing games, taking gondola rides, and more.
The Utah Olympic Park is a great spot to check out in the summer, with a ton of fun activities and interesting exhibits. They also offer a summer camp that includes sailing, gymnastics, stand-up paddleboarding, art classes, water rafting, and more! Note: This camp fills up quickly, so book early!
Learn Something New
If you’re looking for something to do indoors (maybe on the next rainy summer day?), or you just want to have fun somewhere with air conditioning, we recommend The Park City Museum. This Old Town museum is dedicated to educating visitors about Park City’s history. It’s extremely interactive and great for kids visiting Park City for the first time. But don’t get us wrong, lifelong Parkites can also always find something new and interesting at the museum.
A highlight our kids love is The Dungeon, Park City’s original Territorial Jail. Located in the basement of City Hall, it’s always a thrill to hear about some of Park City’s famous outlaws.
The Park City Public Library is a true gem in our community. Borrow a good book or stick around for any one of the events happening at the library. From art classes to Baby and Me events, storytelling, book clubs, and even a Minecraft club, the library isn’t just for bookworms.
With Salt Lake City only 30 minutes away, you can also easily hit up some of the bigger museums, such as the Natural History Museum of Utah, Clark Planetarium, Museum of Illusions, or the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum.

Take a Tour
Sometimes a little sightseeing is nice. Luckily, in Park City, there’s lots to see and easy ways to get around. We love grabbing the free shuttle bus with the family to take a tour around town (trust us, the kids love the shuttle bus). You can also ride the gondola up the mountain and enjoy a scenic walk down.
Summer gondola rides are available from Town Lift, Payday Lift, Crescent Lift, or the Red Pine Gondola in Canyons Village.
Attend an Event
Park City and Deer Valley both have a full calendar of events in the summer. You can enjoy endless concerts, the Kimball Arts Festival, weekend markets, and more!
July 4th is a standout event in Park City, we take our celebrations seriously with fun for the whole family.

Enjoy a Scoop (or Two)
One of the best ways to cool down on a hot summer day in Park City is with a sweet treat. Your kids will probably agree! We love Java Cow Coffee & Ice Cream on Main Street. With its super fun decor and interesting flavours, you could come here every day and not get the same thing twice!
For an extra special treat, try Mack’s Finest Gelato on Bonanza Drive!
Embrace the Arts
Park City has a thriving arts community that extends all the way to the tiniest thespians. The iconic Egyptian Theatre offers YouTheatre classes and camps designed to learn about theatre while having fun and gaining confidence at the same time. With offerings like puppetry, Silly Shakespeare, Improv, Musical Theatre, and more, there’s something for every child out there. And the best part? Thanks to generous donors, these camps and classes are offered for free!
