Iconic Park City Landmarks

Close your eyes and think of Park City. What’s the first thing that comes to mind? Likely, it’s one of our iconic landmarks. In a town steeped in rich history, a unique local culture, and a visual aesthetic you won’t find anywhere else, Park City is full of amazing things to see.

Here are just a few of our favorite iconic landmarks in Park City.

Old Town Lift

We’ve written about the Old Town Lift before in the post about our favorite ski lifts in Park City and Deer Valley. But more than just a great way to get to the mountain, Old Town Lift is also an iconic Park City landmark. Starting directly on lower Main Street, the Old Town Lift connects Park City’s historic downtown core to the mountain, ending near the Bonanza Express Lift.

Although it’s one of the busier lifts, people love it because it offers amazing ski-in, ski-out access along with access to Old Town’s best restaurants, shopping, and more. Open year-round, Old Town Lift is also a great way to admire Park City from above as you glide through the air.

The White Barn

You can’t visit Park City without noticing the White Barn, also known as McPolin Farm. In addition to being an iconic Park City landmark, it also serves as a geographic and municipal marker. Everything southeast of the barn is part of Park City, while everything on the northwest side of the barn is actually the Snyderville Basin area.

The barn was built in 1922 by the McPolin family using tight timber joinery – no nails needed! The White Barn is also a popular starting point for family-friendly hikes on the McPolin Farm Nature Trail.

Ol’ Miner Statue

This bronze statue dedicated to Rich Martinez, AKA Park City’s “Ol’ Miner,” can be found at the Treasure Hill Trailhead on Lowell Avenue. Martinez was a lifelong Park City resident, a fifth-generation miner, and an overall local legend, much beloved by the town. Serving on Park City’s City Council in the 1960s and 1970s, he was also heavily involved in creating and organizing our annual Miner’s Day celebration. Rich passed away in 2017 at the age of 82, and his statue is a beautiful tribute to a person who had such a hand in shaping the Park City we love today.

Park City Museum and Territorial Jail

Not many towns will feature the jail as an iconic landmark, but the Park City Museum and Territorial Jail exhibit is an exception! The museum is a must-visit for visitors and citizens alike, showcasing Park City’s interesting history of silver mining and Western culture.

The museum is home to incredible exhibits, but the highlight for many is the jail. The “Dungeon,” as it’s also known, was home to some notorious criminals, and spending time there is truly an unforgettable experience.

Park City’s Open Space

This one could be considered more of an anti-landmark. Park City is known for its abundant green space. This is purposeful and by design. Over the years, Park City citizens have collectively agreed to purchase land for the purpose of conservation. Through the work of non-profits, philanthropists, county and city bonds, and conscientious developers, Park City has preserved over 10,000 acres of land.

Olympic Sports Park

Originally built for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games, the Utah Olympic Sport Park is an iconic local attraction loved (and enjoyed!) by locals and visitors alike. The venue has not only been maintained over the years, but it has also seen improvements, turning it into a beautiful multi-use facility. The park is open year-round, offering extensive programs and activities. You might even catch some athletes using it for training!

Main Street

Park City’s historic Main Street is irreplaceable. In our opinion, no one should come to Park City without taking a stroll down it. Looking for the best place for an aprés ski? The street is lined with beautifully restored buildings steeped in rich history. More than that, Main Street itself is home to numerous iconic landmarks, including our next entry.

Egyptian Theatre

Once the main venue for the Sundance Film Festival, the Egyptian Theatre is a Park City institution. From the beautiful 1920s Egyptian Revival architecture to the local history it represents, this is one of the most recognizable Park City landmarks. Today, the Egyptian hosts comedy shows, concerts, film screenings, and a variety of live performances. Its YouTheatre program for children is highly regarded and one of the reasons why Park City is so respected within the arts community.

Did You Know: 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the Egyptian Theatre! There’s a whole calendar of events celebrating this amazing milestone this fall.

Miners Hospital

Built in 1904 to treat injuries and illnesses associated with mining, the Park City Miners Hospital is another local landmark with a deep history. In the 1970s, the building was set to be demolished, but thanks to local citizens rallying to keep it standing, the entire building was moved from Nelson Hill to City Park, piece by piece! Once the hospital was closed, the structure began a new life as the public Library until 1993. Today it’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a popular community gathering spot.

Park City Historic Mine Route

The newest and probably biggest landmark on this list is the Park City Historic Mine Route. Opening in the fall of 2026, this free storytelling hiking route takes you on a 7-mile hike through 24 historic sites. If you’ve ever seen glimpses of the interesting old mining buildings up Daly Canyon or if you just love Park City walking tours, this hike is for you. The Park City Museum provides an audio guide to download so you can experience immersive storytelling as you hike through the incredible old mining landscapes.
