How to Spend 48 Hours in Park City

As a premier vacation destination, Park City welcomes countless visitors each calendar year. Some stay with us for an extended period, while others are here for just a quick weekend visit.

If you fall into the latter group, here’s our recommended 48-hour itinerary for the perfect weekend in Park City.

What Season are You Visiting?

Park City is a year-round playground with exciting events and activities in spring, summer, fall, and, of course, winter. The time of year you choose to visit will play a big role in the activities you do and the overall vibe of your visit. Winter is by far the busiest season in Park City, with resorts open and ski lifts in full operation. Summer is also a busy season with numerous summer events and outdoor activities for all ages.

Spring and fall are less busy from a tourist perspective, but still offer amazing recreation. Whether you’re checking out the pond skimming in early spring or admiring the beautiful fall foliage, just because these seasons aren’t traditionally busy doesn’t mean they aren’t good times to visit.

Day One

Waste No Time Getting Here

One of the best parts about visiting Park City is just how easy it is to get here. We are surrounded by private airports, and SLC International is only about 40 minutes away. It’s also a straight shot from the airport to town, so you won’t need to navigate hazardous mountain roads to reach your destination.

Such simplified travel really saves a ton of time, especially if you only have 48 hours to enjoy.

Fuel Up with Breakfast

There’s a lot to see and do in the next two days, so it’s important to fuel yourself. A hearty breakfast or brunch is essential. Head over to Five5eeds on Snow Creek Drive and get the hotcakes. Trust us, they are the best in town!

Take a Hike

Now that you have a full stomach, why not take a hike on the Armstrong Trail? This mid-mountain trail is known for its beautiful foliage and picturesque aspen groves, and it’s a classic trail, loved by locals and visitors alike. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the fall colors or see a great view any time of year. We love it because although it is technically considered to be an “intermediate” trail, its gentle slope is perfect for hikers of varying ages and abilities. It’s also a major connector, starting near the Silver Star lift and connecting to many other popular trails.

One of the best parts of hiking in Park City is the variety. With over 400 miles of maintained trails, there is something for everyone.

For a casual stroll, there are a ton of things to see, including numerous highly regarded art galleries, iconic landmarks like the Egyptian Theatre, the Park City Museum, and local favorites like the No Name Saloon!

Watch the Athletes Train at the Olympic Park

Park City’s athletic heritage runs deep. As an Olympic venue in 2002 (and a future Olympic venue in 2034!), we are home to numerous world-class athletic facilities. The Utah Olympic Sport Park is one of the foremost venues for professional and amateur athletes to train. Head over to the park anytime, and you are likely to see impressive feats as the athletes practice events such as ski jumping, bobsled, and moguls.

Take a Break

At this point in the day, you might feel a little tired. Late afternoon is the perfect time to head back home and put your feet up for a bit. Maybe you take a soak in the hot tub, or simply sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views. Or maybe you just take a quick power nap. Park City is one of the best home bases for recreation, and your vacation property is your place to recharge after being out and about all day.

Day Two

Get Up Early For First Tracks

It’s a scientific fact: snow in Park City is some of the best in the world. The lake effect from the Great Salt Lake gives us more snow each year, while the low humidity and high elevation result in a light and fluffy texture, perfect for skiing. Meanwhile, Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort’s expansion and combined size provide more skiable area than any other ski resort in the United States.

We recommend starting your day early to take advantage of the fresh tracks and less busy slopes. Lifts like the Lady Morgan Express in Deer Valley are perfect for an early start to the day, while faster lifts like the Mountaineer Express let you get in as many runs as possible before lunch or your choice of aprés!

And if skiing is not your thing, that’s ok. There are many things to do in Park City for those who don’t ski!

If You’re Visiting in Non-Ski Season

We’ve established that we’re big fans of winter here in Park City, but there is so much more to us than being a world-class ski destination.

Park City is officially a Gold Level Ride Center with the International Mountain Biking Association, encompassing all types of riding, from flowy cross-country to challenging downhill. Spending a day on two wheels is a satisfying adventure.

If mountain biking feels a bit extreme, we also have countless golf courses, country clubs, and golf communities.

Spa Day

After a morning of recreation, we love to end the day with some rest and relaxation. Park City and Deer Valley are home to some amazing spas and wellness centers. Whether you love a restorative hot yoga class or you’d like to treat yourself to a full luxe spa experience, you’ll find it here.

We love Align Spa just off Main Street for amazing in-and-out treatments. Get a facial and a massage, and thank us later!
